Octubre – 2026

October – 2026
“That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you” (John 17:21)
Peace and Blessings!
Dear missionary brothers and sisters,
May the Holy Spirit continue to bless you, guide you, and accompany you and your families each day.
As we celebrate October, the month dedicated to missions, I invite each of you to reflect on the beautiful gift of our calling as missionaries within the Church. Through our baptism, God has entrusted us with a special vocation-a gift that we are called to embrace each day with faith, gratitude, and hope.
Our missionary journey is more than a responsibility; it is an expression of God's love working through us. It is an invitation to grow closer to Christ, strengthen our unity as brothers and sisters, and share His love with those around us.
With this in mind, I would like to share some reflections from Pope Leo XIV's message for World Mission Day 2026. His words offer meaningful guidance and encouragement, especially for us as members of the Missionary Program, as we continue walking together in faith and fulfilling the mission entrusted to us.
“One in Christ, United in Mission”
“For World Mission Day 2026, which marks the centenary of this celebration, established by Pope Pius XI and so dear to the Church, I have chosen the theme ‘One in Christ, United in Mission.’
Following the Jubilee Year, I wish to encourage the entire Church to continue its missionary journey with joy and zeal in the Holy Spirit. This journey calls for hearts united in Christ, communities reconciled with one another, and a shared willingness to collaborate with generosity and trust.
As we reflect on what it means to be one in Christ and united in mission, let us open our hearts to the guidance and inspiration of divine grace. May it renew within us the fire of our missionary vocation and strengthen our commitment to walk together in the work of evangelization during this new missionary era in the history of the Church.
At the heart of our mission lies the mystery of our union with Christ.
Before His Passion, Jesus prayed to the Father:
‘That they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me’ (John 17:21).
These words reveal the deepest desire of our Lord Jesus Christ and, at the same time, the very identity of the Church as a community of His disciples. We are called to live in communion with the Holy Trinity, drawing our strength and unity from the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, while promoting fraternity among all people and harmony with all creation.
To be Christian is not simply to follow a set of religious practices or beliefs. Above all, it is to live in a deep and personal union with Christ, sharing in the loving relationship He has with the Father through the Holy Spirit.
Jesus invites us to remain in Him, just as branches remain connected to the vine (John 15:4). It is through this union that we grow in communion with one another and bear fruit in our missionary work.
For this reason, one of the Church's greatest missionary responsibilities is to continually renew and strengthen the spiritual and fraternal unity among its members.
In our world today, we often encounter division, conflict, misunderstanding, and distrust. Sadly, these challenges can also find their way into our own communities, weakening the witness we are called to give.
The mission of evangelization entrusted to us by Christ requires, above all, hearts that are reconciled, open to forgiveness, and committed to living in communion with one another.
Finally, being ‘one in Christ’ calls us to keep our eyes and hearts fixed on the Lord, allowing Him to remain at the center of everything we do—our personal lives, our communities, our words, our actions, and our relationships.
Only then can we proclaim with the same conviction as Saint Paul:
‘Yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me’ (Galatians 2:20).
We grow in this union through constant reflection on God's Word and through the grace we receive in the sacraments. In doing so, we become living stones of the Church, strengthened in faith and united in purpose.
Authentic evangelization begins within the heart of each Christian and, through our witness, extends to the world around us.
The more deeply united we are in Christ, the more faithfully and fruitfully we can carry out the mission He has entrusted to us.”
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the first disciple and missionary, accompany us on our journey of faith. May she intercede for each of us and strengthen our missionary vocation, so that we may remain steadfast in our commitment to follow Christ and faithfully serve Him through our lives.
Peace and blessings to all!
In the Most Holy Trinity,
Fr. Eliezer López, S.T.
