El Sagrado Corazón y el compromiso misionero

Estimados hermanos y hermanas misioneros, con paz y esperanza les saludo y deseo en el amor de Cristo, cada uno de ustedes se encuentre bien junto con sus familias y hermanos en la comunidad.
Este mes de Junio nuestra santa Iglesia, nos invita a celebrar al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, quiero compartir con ustedes unas palabras en referencia a tan gran devoción, que en muchas de nuestras familias aun seguimos celebrando. El santo Papa Francisco nos regaló una bella Encíclica sobre el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús “Dilexit Nos”, si usted aun no ha tenido la oportunidad de leerla, les invito a que lo hagan, es una gran motivación para entender y enriquecer nuestra vida como misioneros.
“A la luz del Sagrado Corazón, la misión se convierte en una cuestión de amor”, leemos en el numeral 208 de Dilexit Nos. Así, si la salida misionera es el modelo de toda la tarea de la Iglesia, esta se cualifica por el amor que busca “dilatar en este mundo sus oleadas de infinita ternura” (n. 197). Al beber del amor de Jesús evitamos el riesgo de que “se digan y se hagan muchas cosas, pero no se logre provocar el feliz encuentro con ese amor de Cristo que abraza y que salva» (n. 208). La misión es una cuestión de amor en cuanto provoca el encuentro con ese amor de Jesús, como lo enseñaba Benedicto XVI: “No se comienza a ser cristiano por una decisión ética o una gran idea, sino por el encuentro con un acontecimiento, con una Persona, que da un nuevo horizonte a la vida y, con ello, una orientación decisiva” (Deus caritas est, n. 217).
Es por esto que la persona misionera tiene un perfil, el n. 209 expresa que la misión, realizada desde el corazón, “exige misioneros enamorados, que se dejan cautivar todavía por Cristo y que inevitablemente transmiten ese amor que les ha cambiado la vida”. Tal como lo anunciaba en Evangelii Gaudium: “la primera motivación para evangelizar es el amor de Jesús que hemos recibido” (n. 264). Hemos de tener presente que, el tiempo que tenemos los misioneros/as para amar no lo podemos “perder discutiendo cuestiones secundarias o imponiendo verdades y normas» (n. 209), al contrario es tiempo de que cada uno asuma el testimonio de lo esencial, que es lo más bello, lo más grande, lo más atractivo y, al mismo tiempo, lo más necesario: Jesús a quien decimos amar. La principal preocupación del misionero y la misionera es comunicar lo que ellos viven y, sobre todo, que los demás puedan percibir la bondad y la belleza del Amado a través de sus buenas obras, tomando en serio la advertencia del Papa Francisco: “conviene ser realistas y no dar por supuesto que nuestros interlocutores conocen el trasfondo completo de lo que decimos o que pueden conectar nuestro discurso con el núcleo esencial del Evangelio que le otorga sentido, hermosura y atractivo» (EG.34).
El Inmaculado Corazón de María, nos ayude a amar con más sinceridad el divino Corazón de su Hijo Jesucristo.

The Sacred Heart and the Missionary Commitment

Dear missionary brothers and sisters,
I greet you with peace and hope, and pray that you, your families, and your fellow brothers and sisters in the community are doing well and experiencing the love of Christ.
During this month of June, our Holy Church invites us to celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I would like to share a few reflections on this beautiful devotion, which continues to hold a special place in many of our families. Pope Francis gave the Church a wonderful encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Dilexit Nos ("He Loved Us"). If you have not yet had the opportunity to read it, I encourage you to do so. It offers profound insights that can strengthen and enrich our lives as missionaries.
In paragraph 208 of Dilexit Nos, Pope Francis reminds us that “in the light of the Sacred Heart, mission becomes a matter of love.” If missionary outreach is at the heart of the Church’s mission, then it must be rooted in a love that seeks to spread Christ’s infinite tenderness throughout the world. When we draw from the love of Jesus, we avoid the danger of doing many things in His name without leading others to a true encounter with the saving love of Christ.
Mission is ultimately about helping others encounter Jesus. As Pope Benedict XVI beautifully taught:
“Being Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a Person, who gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.”
This is why missionaries are called to be deeply in love with Christ. As Pope Francis writes, mission carried out from the heart requires “missionaries who continue to be captivated by Christ and who naturally share the love that has transformed their lives.” As he also reminded us in Evangelii Gaudium, “the primary reason for evangelizing is the love of Jesus which we have received.”
As missionaries, we must remember that our time is precious. It should not be spent arguing over secondary issues or merely imposing rules and regulations. Instead, we are called to bear witness to what is most essential, most beautiful, and most necessary: Jesus Christ, whom we profess to love.
The greatest concern of every missionary should be to share the faith they live and experience each day, allowing others to encounter the goodness and beauty of Christ through their words and actions. Pope Francis cautions us not to assume that everyone already understands the Gospel message. Rather, we must help others discover its meaning, beauty, and hope through our witness and example.
May the Immaculate Heart of Mary help us grow in our love for the Sacred Heart of her Son, Jesus Christ, and may she guide us in our mission of bringing His love to others.

• We invite everyone to begin praying for our upcoming Missionary Congress, which will be celebrated on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Additional information will be provided in the coming days. In the meantime, the Elections Committee is already visiting the communities to distribute nomination ballots so that brothers and sisters may be nominated to serve on the various committees.
