“Reciban el Espíritu Santo” Jn 20, 22

 

¡Bendecida Pascua de Resurrección!

 

Queridos hermanos y hermanas misioneros, la alegría de la Resurrección del Señor Jesús, nos sigue acompañando con sus dones y bendiciones. Hemos estar agradecidos con Cristo Resucitado, por su fiel compañía y constante bendición en nuestras vidas y familia.

 

En este mes celebramos la gran fiesta de Pentecostés, motivo de alegría para nosotros misioneros, que hemos recibido ese Espíritu Santo. En la fiesta de Pentecostés se podría decir que termina la misión de Jesús en la tierra y comienza la nuestra, alentados, impulsados y sostenidos por su mismo Espíritu. Recibimos su misma misión, la que el Padre ha encomendado a su Hijo. “La paz esté con ustedes. Como el Padre me envió, así os envío yo” (Jn 20,21). Nos llenamos de agradecimiento por semejante don y deseamos que el fuego que ardía en el corazón de Jesucristo no se extinga, sino que provoque en nosotros el incendio que él ha soñado y querido. Esas pequeñas llamas que han aparecido en las cabezas de los apóstoles, y en nuestras almas, queremos como misioneros/as que se propaguen hasta el último rincón de la tierra. Nos ilusiona ser cooperadores de los planes divinos para llenar el mundo del calor que el Salvador vino a regalarnos.

Para esa misión no estamos solos, contamos con una ayuda insuperable. Jesús nos lo había prometido diciendo que no nos dejaría huérfanos y lo ha cumplido (Jn 14,18). Estas palabras nos llevan a creer qu,  el Espíritu de Dios, donde entra, expulsa el miedo; nos hace conocer y sentir que estamos en las manos de una omnipotencia de amor: suceda lo que suceda, su amor infinito no nos abandona. Lo demuestra el testimonio de los mártires, la valentía de los confesores de la fe, el ímpetu intrépido de los misioneros, la franqueza de los predicadores, el ejemplo de todos los santos, algunos incluso adolescentes y niños. Lo demuestra la existencia misma de la Iglesia que, a pesar de los límites y las culpas, sigue cruzando el océano de la historia, impulsada por el soplo de Dios y animada por su fuego purificador.

Puede ser que algunas veces sintamos esa orfandad, pero no queremos que nos paralice, sabemos que es parte de la cizaña que el enemigo maligno intenta sembrar entre el trigo bueno del amor al que somos llamados. Sentirla y percibirla no significa pactar con ella, sino que puede ser precisamente el estímulo para volver a considerar, con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, que somos hijos muy queridos. Como misioneros/as, queremos introducirnos en esta fuente interminable de gracia, donde reconocemos que la gloria del  Espíritu Santo nos santifica. En esa intimidad acompañados de la Santísima Trinidad tienen cabida y solución nuestros temores y angustias. Que María Madre de Cristo, que supo esperar la llegada el Espíritu Santo  y acompaño la vida de los Apóstoles, nos acompañe en el camino de la fe e interceda por nuestras necesidades.

Exhortación.

Me dirigió a todos ustedes hermanos/as misioneros con una preocupación por aquellos hermanos que sin autorización ni consentimiento de su Director Espiritual, se están yendo a prestar servicio en los Encuentros de otras sedes fuera de nuestra área, y fuera de nuestra Diocesis de San Bernardino. A esos hermanos los exhorto a que, por favor consideren avisar y pedir permiso a su Director Espiritual. Les recuerdo que ustedes son miembros de un Programa Misionero, que sirve dentro de un territorio parroquial y una Diocesis y hay pasos que se deben seguir. No es que, no quiera que sirvan y apoyen, claro que sí, pero hay que hacer los debidos procesos. Que distinto seria si el Director Espiritual de esas sedes, pudiera comunicarse con el Director Espiritual del PMV, y solicitar la ayuda de misioneros para servir Encuentros, estoy seguro que desde nuestra sede PMV, los enviaríamos con fe y oración.  Rezo, para que el Espíritu Santo nos de la gracia de un espíritu de comunión y unidad. Por favor, si amamos a tu Programa Misionero del Valle de Coachella, hagamos lo que se nos pide.

 

AVISOS

• Elevemos plegaria de oración por el próximo Encuentro # 229 en inglés. Del 7 al 10 hombres y del 14 al 17 mujeres.
• El Post-Encuentro # 229 será el jueves 21 de Mayo a las 6:00 pm
• Se están llevando a cabo las juntas de formación para el Encuentro # 230 en español a celebrarse en Junio 2026. Hay aplicaciones disponibles llamar a Pre-encuentro

• El viernes 22 de Mayo, a las 6:00 pm se realizara la Comunidad de Comunidades bilingüe, por favor todas las comunidades en inglés y español deben asistir. Es muy importante que participen todos, se abordaran temas importantes sobre la transición financiera del PMV.
• El lunes 25 de mayo, la oficina estará cerrada por el Memorial Day.
• Coordinadores y sub coordinadores de comunidad en español, el 30 de Mayo están invitados a participar del taller de formación, en horario de 9:00 – 1:00 pm. Es mandatorio.
• En preparación para nuestro Congreso Misionero 2026, en este mes de Mayo el equipo de elecciones les estará visitando en las comunidades, para entregarles las boletas de nominación para elegir nuevos hermanos misioneros para ocupar cargos de los comités salientes.

“Receive the Holy Spirit” (Jn 20:22)

Blessed Easter!

Dear missionary brothers and sisters, the joy of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus continues to accompany us with His gifts and blessings. We are grateful to the Risen Christ for His faithful presence and constant blessing in our lives and in our families.

This month, we celebrate the great feast of Pentecost, a source of joy for us missionaries who have received the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost, the mission of Jesus on earth comes to an end and ours begins, encouraged, driven, and sustained by His very Spirit. We receive the same mission that the Father entrusted to His Son:
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you” (John 20:21).

We are filled with gratitude for such a gift, and we desire that the fire that burned in the heart of Jesus Christ may not be extinguished but instead ignite within us the blaze He has dreamed of and desired. Those small flames that appeared above the heads of the apostles, and now burn within our souls, are meant to spread to the ends of the earth. As missionaries, we are called to carry that fire forward, becoming co-workers in God’s plan to fill the world with the warmth the Savior came to give us.

For this mission, we are not alone; we have incomparable help. Jesus promised He would not leave us as orphans, and He has fulfilled that promise (John 14:18). These words lead us to believe that wherever the Spirit of God enters, He drives out fear. He helps us know and feel that we are in the hands of an all-powerful love: no matter what happens, His infinite love never abandons us. This is evident in the witness of the martyrs, the courage of those who profess the faith, the bold zeal of missionaries, the sincerity of preachers, and the example of all the saints, even adolescents and children. It is also evident in the very existence of the Church, which, despite its limits and faults, continues to cross the ocean of history, driven by the breath of God and enlivened by His purifying fire.

At times, we may feel a sense of abandonment, but we do not want it to paralyze us. We know it can be part of the weeds that the enemy tries to sow among the good wheat of love to which we are called. Feeling it does not mean we accept it; rather, it can become the very stimulus to rediscover, with the help of the Holy Spirit, that we are deeply loved children of God. As missionaries, we desire to immerse ourselves in this inexhaustible source of grace, recognizing that the glory of the Holy Spirit sanctifies us. In that intimacy, accompanied by the Most Holy Trinity, our fears and anxieties find both a place and a solution.

May Mary, Mother of Christ, who awaited the coming of the Holy Spirit and accompanied the Apostles, walk with us on our journey of faith and intercede for our needs.

Exhortation

I address all of you, missionary brothers and sisters, with a concern about those who, without the authorization or consent of their Spiritual Director, are serving at Encounters in locations outside our area and outside of the Diocese of San Bernardino.

To those brothers and sisters, I strongly urge you to please consider informing your Spiritual Director and requesting permission. I remind you that you are members of a Missionary Program that serves within a parish territory and a diocese, and there are steps that must be followed.

It is not that we do not want you to serve and support; of course, we do, but proper processes must be respected. How different it would be if the Spiritual Director from those locations could communicate with the Spiritual Director of the VMP and request missionary support for their Encounters. I am certain that from our VMP center, we would send missionaries with faith and prayer.

I pray that the Holy Spirit grants us the grace of a spirit of communion and unity. Please, if we love our Missionary Program of the Coachella Valley, let us do what is asked of us.

Announcements

• Let us raise prayers for the upcoming Encounter #229 in English:
  • Men: May 7–10
  • Women: May 14–17
• The Post-Encounter #229 will be held on Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 pm.
• Formation meetings are currently underway for Encounter #230 in Spanish, to be held in June 2026. Applications are available. Please call Pre-Encounter at 760-574-7516.
• On Friday, May 22 at 6:00 pm, the bilingual “Community of Communities” gathering will take place. All English and Spanish-speaking communities are invited to attend. It is very important that everyone participates, as key topics regarding the VMP’s financial transition will be discussed.
• On Monday, May 25, the office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
• Spanish-speaking community coordinators and sub-coordinators are invited to attend a formation workshop on May 30 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Attendance is mandatory.
• In preparation for our Missionary Congress 2026, during the month of May, the elections team will be visiting communities to distribute nomination ballots to elect new missionary brothers and sisters to fill outgoing committee positions.
