“Cristo nuestra paz”   Ef. 2, 14

 

¡Paz y Bendiciones!

Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas misioneros, con la alegría del nacimiento del Niño Dios, les saludo en el inicio de un nuevo año. Que la ternura y la paz que trae nuestro Redentor acompañen sus vidas, las de sus familias y su comunidad.

Con el inicio de un nuevo año, se nos da la oportunidad de crecer en las experiencias humanas y también en las espirituales; como misioneros encontramos siempre una invitación a no quedarnos estáticos sino, a caminar a la luz del Señor y lo que él nos va manifestando día con día. La opción por la paz ha de ser una prioridad en nuestras vidas personales y comunitarias, solo desde ahí podemos ir encontrando el sendero luminoso que señala Cristo con su nacimiento; para iluminar esta realidad de la necesidad de paz en nuestro ser de cristianos, el Papa León XIV refiere unas palabras muy emotivas y cargadas de sabiduría en su mensaje por la jornada mundial de la paz para el año 2026. El santo padre afirma: “¡La paz esté contigo!”. Este antiquísimo saludo, que sigue siendo habitual en muchas culturas, en la tarde de Pascua se llenó de nuevo vigor en labios de Jesús resucitado. «¡La paz esté con ustedes!» ( Jn 20,19.21) es su palabra, que no sólo desea, sino que realiza un cambio definitivo en quien la recibe y, de ese modo, en toda la realidad. Por eso, los sucesores de los Apóstoles dan voz cada día y en todo el mundo a la más silenciosa revolución: “¡La paz esté con ustedes!”. Desde la tarde de mi elección como Obispo de Roma he querido incorporar mi saludo en este anuncio coral. Y deseo reafirmarlo: «Esta es la paz de Cristo resucitado, una paz desarmada y una paz desarmante, humilde y perseverante. Proviene de Dios, Dios que nos ama a todos incondicionalmente». 

La paz existe, quiere habitar en nosotros, tiene el suave poder de iluminar y ensanchar la inteligencia, resiste a la violencia y la vence. La paz tiene el aliento de lo eterno; mientras al mal se le grita “basta”, a la paz se le susurra “para siempre”. En este horizonte nos ha introducido el Resucitado. Con este presentimiento viven los que trabajan por la paz que, en el drama de lo que el Papa Francisco ha definido como “tercera guerra mundial a pedazos”, siguen resistiendo a la contaminación de las tinieblas, como centinelas de la noche.

San Agustín exhortaba a los cristianos a entablar una amistad indisoluble con la paz, para que, custodiándola en lo más íntimo de su espíritu, pudieran irradiar en torno a sí su luminoso calor. Él, dirigiéndose a su comunidad, escribía así: «Tened la paz, hermanos. Si queréis atraer a los demás hacia ella, sed los primeros en poseerla y retenerla. Arda en vosotros lo que poseéis para encender a los demás». 

Ya sea que tengamos el don de la fe, o que nos parezca que no lo tenemos, queridos hermanos y hermanas, ¡abrámonos a la paz! Acojámosla y reconozcámosla, en vez de considerarla lejana e imposible. Antes de ser una meta, la paz es una presencia y un camino. Aunque sea combatida dentro y fuera de nosotros, como una pequeña llama amenazada por la tormenta, cuidémosla sin olvidar los nombres y las historias de quienes nos han dado testimonio de ella. Es un principio que guía y determina nuestras decisiones. Incluso en los lugares donde sólo quedan escombros y donde la desesperación parece inevitable, hoy encontramos a quienes no han olvidado la paz. Así como en la tarde de Pascua Jesús entró en el lugar donde se encontraban los discípulos, atemorizados y desanimados, de la misma manera la paz de Cristo resucitado sigue atravesando puertas y barreras con las voces y los rostros de sus testigos. Es el don que permite que no olvidemos el bien, reconocerlo vencedor, elegirlo de nuevo juntos. La bondad es desarmante. Quizás por eso Dios se hizo niño. El misterio de la Encarnación, que tiene su punto de mayor abajamiento en el descenso a los infiernos, comienza en el vientre de una joven madre y se manifiesta en el pesebre de Belén. «Paz en la tierra» cantan los ángeles, anunciando la presencia de un Dios sin defensas, del que la humanidad puede descubrirse amada solo cuidándolo.

Queridos hermanos/as misioneros deseo que cada uno se sienta invitados a abrazar y hacer realidad en su vida estas palabras, recordando que caminamos con Cristo nuestra paz. La Madre de Dios siga acompañando nuestro peregrinar en esta tierra e interceda por todos nosotros.

• Somos un programa de evangelización que funcionamos bajo la autorización del Obispo de la Diócesis San Bernardino, como parte de nuestras relaciones con la Diócesis y en consenso con el Consejo Ejecutivo de nuestro Programa Misionero, hemos empezado un tiempo de Restructuración del sistema de  finanzas; razón por la cual se tuvo que eliminar la posición de trabajo de nuestra contadora María Badena. De ahora en adelante, las oficinas de finanzas de la Diócesis llevaran la contabilidad de nuestras finanzas. Agradecemos a María Badena, por todos los años de trabajo con nosotros y le deseamos lo mejor con la ayuda de Dios.
• Este mes de enero del 8 al 11, hemos celebrado el encuentro de Jóvenes #95.
• Les invito a seguir participando en los rosarios mensuales en honor a la virgen de Guadalupe, se realizan en el PMV en horario de 6:00 pm
• El próximo lunes19 de enero, oficina cerrada (Martin Luther King Day) y el miércoles 21 de enero  la oficina estará cerrada estaremos participando en la reunión de vicariato del bajo desierto en Blythe.
• Con esperanza y unidos en oración, celebraremos en este mes de enero el encuentro # 227. Del  22 – 25  hombres y del 29 al 1 febrero mujeres.
• El próximo 5 de febrero tendremos comunidad de comunidades en inglés, de 6:00 a 8:00 pm.
• Todos los coordinadores y sub coordinadores de comunidad, deben participar el  próximo 7 de febrero en el primer taller de formación del año. En horario de 9:00 – 1:00 pm

“Christ Our Peace” (Eph. 2:14)

Peace and Blessings!

My dear missionary brothers and sisters, with the joy of the birth of the Child God, I greet you at the beginning of a new year. May the tenderness and peace that our Redeemer brings accompany your lives, those of your families, and your community.

With the beginning of a new year, we are given the opportunity to grow in human experiences and also in spiritual ones; as missionaries, we always find an invitation not to remain stagnant, but to walk in the light of the Lord and in what He reveals to us day by day. The choice for peace must be a priority in our personal and community lives; only from there can we find the luminous path that Christ points out with His birth. To illuminate this reality of the need for peace in our Christian being, Pope Leo XIV refers to some very moving words, filled with wisdom, in his message for the World Day of Peace for the year 2026. The Holy Father affirms: “Peace be with you!” This most ancient greeting, which remains customary in many cultures, was filled anew with vigor on the evening of Easter on the lips of the risen Jesus. “Peace be with you” (Jn 20:19 - 21) is His word, which not only wishes peace, but brings about a definitive change in the one who receives it and, in this way, in all reality. For this reason, the successors of the Apostles give voice each day and throughout the world to the quietest revolution: “Peace be with you.” From the evening of my election as Bishop of Rome, I have wished to incorporate my greeting into this choral proclamation. And I wish to reaffirm it: “This is the peace of the risen Christ, a peace unarmed and a peace that disarms, humble and persevering. It comes from God, God who loves us all unconditionally.”

Peace exists; it wishes to dwell within us; it has the gentle power to enlighten and expand the intelligence; it resists violence and overcomes it. Peace has the breath of eternity, while evil is shouted down with “enough,” peace is whispered “forever.” It is into this horizon that the Risen One has led us. With this intuition live those who work for peace, who, amid the drama of what Pope Francis has defined as a “third world war in pieces,” continue to resist the contamination of darkness, like sentinels of the night.

Saint Augustine exhorted Christians to enter into an indissoluble friendship with peace, so that, safeguarding it in the deepest part of their spirit, they might radiate its luminous warmth around them. Addressing his community, he wrote: “Have peace, brothers. If you wish to draw others to it, be the first to possess it and hold on to it. Let what you possess burn within you so as to set others alight.”

Whether we have the gift of faith, or it seems to us that we do not have it, dear brothers and sisters, let us open ourselves to peace! Let us welcome it and recognize it, rather than consider it distant and impossible. Before being a goal, peace is a presence and a path. Even if it is fought within and outside of us, like a small flame threatened by the storm, let us care for it without forgetting the names and the stories of those who have borne witness to it. It is a principle that guides and determines our decisions. Even in places where only rubble remains and where despair seems inevitable, today we find those who have not forgotten peace. Just as on the evening of Easter, Jesus entered the place where the disciples were, fearful and discouraged, in the same way, the peace of the risen Christ continues to pass through doors and barriers with the voices and faces of its witnesses. It is the gift that allows us not to forget the good, to recognize it as victorious, to choose it again together. Goodness disarms. Perhaps that is why God became a child. The mystery of the Incarnation, which reaches its lowest point in the descent into hell, begins in the womb of a young mother and is revealed in the manger of Bethlehem. “Peace on earth,” sing the angels, announcing the presence of a defenseless God, through whom humanity can discover itself loved only by caring for Him.

Dear missionary brothers and sisters, I wish that each one may feel invited to embrace and make these words a reality in his or her life, remembering that we walk with Christ, our peace. May the Mother of God continue to accompany our pilgrimage on this earth and intercede for all of us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

• We are an evangelization program that operates under the authorization of the Bishop of the Diocese of San Bernardino. As part of our relationship with the Diocese and in consensus with the Executive Council of our Missionary Program, we have begun a period of restructuring of our financial system. For this reason, the position of our accountant, María Badena, had to be eliminated. From now on, the Diocese’s finance offices will handle the accounting of our finances. We thank María Badena for all the years she worked with us and wish her the very best with God’s help.
• This month, from January 8 to 11, we celebrated Youth Encounter #95.
• I invite you to continue participating in the monthly Rosaries in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. They are held at the VMP at 6:00 p.m.
• Next Monday, January 19, the office will be closed (Martin Luther King Day). On Wednesday, January 21, the office will also be closed as we will be participating in the Lower Desert Vicariate meeting in Blythe.
• With hope and united in prayer, we will celebrate Encounter #227 this month of January: January 22–25 for men, and January 29–February 1 for women.
• On February 5, we will have “Community of Communities” in English, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
• All community coordinators and sub-coordinators are required to participate in the first formation workshop of the year on February 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
