“En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Estén listos, con la túnica puesta y las lámparas encendidas. Sean semejantes a los criados que están esperando a que su señor regrese de la boda, para abrirle en cuanto llegue y toque. Dichosos aquellos a quienes su señor, al llegar, encuentre en vela. Yo les aseguro que se recogerá la túnica, los hará sentar a la mesa y él mismo les servirá. Y si llega a medianoche o a la madrugada y los encuentra en vela, dichosos ellos.

 

Fíjense en esto: Si un padre de familia supiera a qué hora va a venir el ladrón, estaría vigilando y no dejaría que se le metiera por un boquete en su casa. Pues también ustedes estén preparados, porque a la hora en que menos lo piensen vendrá el Hijo del hombre” (Lucas 12, 35-40).

 

Una de las cualidades que el misionero necesita desarrollar es estar preparado para el servicio. El servicio es desgastante, pues exige entrega y compromiso. Este mes el Programa Misionero del Valle tendrá su XXXI Congreso; el cual es un tiempo privilegiado para reflexionar sobre el servicio. Muchas veces lo hemos identificado sólo como un tiempo de elecciones. Por que hasta cierto punto es lo que más se ve en este proceso, pero se nos ha olvidado que no es sólo un tiempo de elecciones. Pues la elección de las personas que encabezarán la mitad de los comités del Consejo Ejecutivo del PMV no es el fin último del Congreso, sino es él resultado de un proceso de oración y discernimiento; me explico: en el congreso no corren (no hacen campaña) “candidatos a un puesto de elección popular”, así el Congreso no se identifica con una campaña política, por lo que, quienes son electos en el congreso no son una especie de gobernantes o representantes populares de los demás misioneros; de hecho, no se nos debe debe de olvidar que en la Iglesia no existe la democracia al estilo de la que hay en un país para la elección de puestos populares, pues de hecho no hay puestos populares, todo es un llamado al servicio.

 

Desde esta óptica, al misionero que es llamado para participar en las elecciones del congreso, se le llama ante todo a realizar un servicio para sus hermanos misioneros, servicio en coordinación y bajo la guía del Guía Espiritual, y nunca se le hace el llamado a buscar tener un puesto de poder al estilo del que tienen los gobernantes sobre los gobernados de una área determinada. Por otro lado, todos los miembros del PMV están llamados a no elegir en base a amiguismos, favoritismo o compromisos pactados, sino a elegir discernir desde la oración que el hermano quedará al frente de un comite, buscando que éste tenga los dones que se necesita para encabezarlo.

 

El comite de elecciones aun está trabajando en la recolección de nombres, luego de ellos continuarán con los procesos que dictan los los estatutos: pasaran los posible nombres al Guía Espiritual, los nombres que sean  aprobados en este paso se presentarán al Consejo General para que los aprueben y continuar con el paso de llamar a los nominados. Una vez que los nominados acepten el llamado, se publicarán sus nombres mediante los medios pertinentes de los que dispone el PMV. Oremos para que este proceso y todo lo que vivimos en el PMV nos ayude a crecer como personas y como misioneros.

Guía Espiritual del PMV

 

 

Recordemos las actividades que tenemos para este mes de Agosto de 2025:

 

• Con el fin de ahorrar en el recibo de la energía eléctrica el PMV estará cerrado del 28 de Julio al 8 de Agosto.

 

• El día 15 tendremos el Rosario a la Virgen.

 

• El día 24 tendremos el Congreso Misionero y como ya se explicó en la carta anterior y el día que los miembros del Consejo les visitaron en sus comunidades para poder votar este años deben de haber contribuido con su membresía al menos 2 de los últimos 6 meses, por lo que el día del Congreso nadie podrá activarse.

 

• En los próximos días se darán a conocer las lista de las personas que correrán (los candidatos) en la elección para ocupar los comités que este año se renovarán, en cuanto se tengan los nombres de las personas que aceptaron el llamado a participar en la elección les haremos llegar la lista en una carta y por los medios adecuados.

May the Grace and Peace of the Holy Spirit Always Be with Us!

 

"At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: Be ready, with your tunics fastened and your lamps lit. Be like servants who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that they may open the door for him as soon as he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will fasten his belt, have them sit at the table, and he will come and serve them. And if he comes in the middle of the night or near dawn and finds them awake, blessed are those servants.

 

But know this: if the head of the household had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, for the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect" (Luke 12:35–40).

 

One of the qualities a missionary needs to develop is being prepared for service. Service is demanding, as it requires dedication and commitment. This month, the Valley Missionary Program will hold its 31st Congress, which is a privileged time for reflecting on service. Many times, we have only seen it as a time of elections. And to a certain extent, that is what is most visible during this process. But we have forgotten that it is not just a time for elections. The election of the individuals who will lead half of the committees of the VMP Executive Council is not the ultimate goal of the Congress, but rather the result of a process of prayer and discernment.

 

Let me explain: at the Congress, there are no “candidates running for public office,” so the Congress should not be identified with a political campaign. Those elected at the Congress are not a kind of government or popular representatives of the other missionaries. In fact, we must not forget that in the Church, democracy as it exists in countries for electing public positions does not exist, because in truth, there are no public positions; everything is a calling to service.

 

From this perspective, the missionary who is called to participate in the congress elections is, above all, being called to serve their fellow missionaries. This service is done in coordination with and under the guidance of the Spiritual Guide. The call is never to seek a position of power like those held by rulers over governed people in a certain area.

 

Furthermore, all members of the VMP are called not to elect based on favoritism, friendships, or prior agreements, but to choose through discernment in prayer who the brother or sister is that will lead a committee, seeking someone who has the gifts necessary to guide it.

 

The elections committee is still working on collecting names. After that, they will continue with the steps outlined in the statutes: they will submit the potential names to the Spiritual Guide, and the names that are approved in that step will be presented to the General Council for their approval, after which the nominees will be contacted. Once the nominees accept the call, their names will be published through the appropriate communication channels available to the VMP. Let us pray that this process and everything we experience within the VMP helps us grow as people and as missionaries.

Spiritual Guide of the VMP

 

 

Let us remember the activities we have for the month of August 2025:

 

• To help reduce the electricity bill, the VMP will be closed from July 28 to August 8.

 

• On August 15, we will pray the Rosary to the Virgin.

 

• On August 24, we will have the Missionary Congress, and as was explained in the previous letter and during the visits from Council members to your communities, in order to vote this year, members must have contributed their membership dues for at least 2 of the last 6 months. Therefore, no one will be able to activate their membership on the day of the Congress.

 

• In the coming days, the list of candidates running in the election to serve on the committees that are up for renewal this year will be shared. As soon as we have the names of those who have accepted the call to participate in the election, we will send out the list by letter and through the appropriate channels.
